state her own conditions on which Great Britain would remain
neutral, that nation, now so virtuously indignant, had but one
answer; a declaration of war. Thy then, the world may ask, were we solely told of Great Britain's "just" indignation about Germany's "infamous proposal"; why then were we not told of Great Britain's plain refusal to Germany to state her conditions?
It will be remembered that quite recently the British
Ambassador in Berlin mystified the world by the report of his
discovery of a great German news organisation said to be in
ecurse of contemplation. Everybody in Germany knows that such
an organisation free from British influence has long been felt
a necessity to counterbalance the hitherto overwhelming force
of British world news services, But, of course, the British
wanting the world to see things from the British point of view that is all right; however, other nations, and most particularly
Germany, wishing the world to look at things also from points
of view other than merely British, that is "international
Blackmail."
British indignation, at Germany:s "infamous proposal" was
given out the world over as the motto for which Great Britain
was to take up her arms; but to quote George Bernard Shaw: The
world is beginning to get tired of Great Britain's "national
trick of virtuous indignation."
Thanking you for the space, and enclosing my name
